Independent political analyst Aed Al-Hilali revealed today, Wednesday, that divisions and Sunni ambitions are hindering the selection of a key figure for the position of Speaker of the Parliament, and confirmed that the Sunni coalition will not reach an agreement on this matter. Al-Hilali stated, "Political divisions within the Sunni coalition are ongoing, and recently we have observed the emergence of movements, factions, and coalitions that have split from the core components." He pointed out that "the Sunni coalition will not reach an agreement because everyone wants to attain the position of Speaker of the Parliament to gain popular support and create a presence within the component and the entire political process in the future."
He added that "the Shiite component maintains its unity but lacks an agreement, as there is no unified decision or discourse within the coordination framework, which significantly affects the resolution of the Speaker of the Council issue." Al-Hilali explained that "the numerous divisions and political ambitions within the Sunni coalition prevent the selection of a central figure around whom the component can unite."
