Drugs and 122 Million Pounds: "The Gold Princess" and a Businessman Stir Egypt

Drugs and 122 Million Pounds:

Egyptian authorities announced the arrest of a businessman found in possession of drugs and weapons worth 122 million pounds, amid rumors of his partnership with a famous woman on social media known as "The Gold Princess." It later became clear that the woman, "Amira Hassan," is engaged in the gold and metals trade and has gained wide popularity on social media platforms, showcasing gold products in her shops in various designs, using the yellow metal to craft and embellish headscarves and abayas, among other items.

The confusion around her name arose after local websites and newspapers reported two days ago that the 40-year-old woman had been arrested for drug trafficking and manufacturing firearms, mentioning that she was in partnership with the businessman who was arrested for arms and drug trafficking.

However, the woman completely denied these allegations in a video on her "TikTok" page, threatening to take legal action against the spreaders of the rumor. She clarified that she owns only one branch for selling gold and that she has no partners in her business.

**What About the Businessman?**

The story began when security forces arrested a businessman on charges of managing and manufacturing firearms and importing, manufacturing, and recycling drugs valued at 122 million pounds. The Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced at the time that the General Administration for Combating Drugs and Unlicensed Weapons and Ammunition, in coordination with the relevant security agencies, had monitored the activities of a highly dangerous gang composed of 10 individuals, 8 of whom had criminal records, while three others were currently abroad, one holding a foreign nationality. They specialized in smuggling, manufacturing, and recycling drugs, particularly synthetic cannabis, and operated a workshop for manufacturing unlicensed firearms and ammunition to promote them among their clients.

The ministry stated that the accused had made the provinces of Cairo and Giza their operational ground for illegal activities and were involved in laundering the proceeds from their illicit trade in an attempt to legitimize it. It added that they had been targeted.

The ministry announced that the financial value of the seized items amounted to 122 million pounds, confirming that legal actions had been taken and the prosecution was notified to undertake the investigation.

This statement came after many outlets discussed a connection between "The Gold Princess" and the accused businessman, without providing any information regarding those rumors. Despite Amira's denial of any relationship with the arrested businessman, the story continues to generate significant buzz on social media in Egypt.
