Long Presidential Vacancy... Awaiting the Reshuffling of Cards

Political sources have indicated that Lebanon is heading toward a prolonged presidential vacancy, as suggested by the stances of local parties and the intense international developments reflecting instability in the Middle East. This situation unfolds amid the escalating rivalry between the American and Russian powers on European soil, as well as ongoing disputes between America, the West, and Iran, and between the latter and Saudi Arabia and some Gulf states. Therefore, the session of the Parliament to elect a president tomorrow, Thursday, is likely to end without a result, unless serious developments occur with parliamentary blocs proposing a new presidential candidate, which would reshuffle the cards and change alignments, allowing for multiple blocs to unite in voting for a candidate who might secure 50 votes or more. Meanwhile, the "Strong Lebanon" bloc has confirmed its continuation of leaving the ballot blank, as have sources from the bloc of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri and, by extension, the "Hezbollah" bloc. In contrast, sources from the "Lebanese Forces" bloc and the "Progressive Socialist Party" bloc have reaffirmed their commitment to nominating MP Michel Maawieh, at least for now.
