Al-Safadi to Netanyahu: You Are Responsible for the Failure of Negotiations

Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi today, Friday, held Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for "failing to complete a prisoner exchange deal" in Gaza, calling for "direct pressure to be applied on him." Al-Safadi emphasized in a phone call with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani that "all evidence indicates that Benjamin Netanyahu is the one undermining efforts to finalize the deal," adding that "anyone who wants to succeed in achieving it must exert effective and direct pressure on him."

A statement issued by the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs quoted al-Safadi as saying that "the first step to halt the escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region is to stop the Israeli aggression on Gaza and to end the humanitarian disaster it causes." He urged "intensifying pressure on Israel to stop the aggression on Gaza," affirming Jordan's support for the efforts of Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to reach an agreement on the exchange and the necessity of completing the deal as soon as possible.

The United States, Qatar, and Egypt announced on Friday a new proposal during the two-day Doha talks that "narrows the gaps" between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas," which has announced its rejection of the proposal.
