North Korean leader Kim Jong Un recently conducted a tour of flood-affected areas in the northern part of the country, according to the official Korean Central News Agency on Saturday. The agency reported that during his visit to the Oiju area in North Pyongan Province on Thursday and Friday, Kim gained a more detailed understanding of the on-ground situation, provided humanitarian aid, and issued instructions on containing the damage, rebuilding, developing the area, and preventing future disasters. According to the agency, Kim directed the removal of "weak aspects" of the affected area, which turns into a "water reservoir" every time it rains, and emphasized considering the geography of the riverbank and its ability to prevent flood damage when designing new housing and infrastructure facilities for the region.
