**Preparedness of the Lebanese Red Cross During New Year's Eve Celebrations:**
"In line with the celebrations for New Year's Eve, the Lebanese Red Cross has placed its emergency and ambulance teams on alert throughout all centers and operations rooms across Lebanon, supported by 220 ambulances and 850 paramedics ready to respond as needed. For mountainous regions, a number of four-wheel drive vehicles have also been designated to be on standby in case these areas face any snowstorms, all fully equipped to respond to emergency calls at the free emergency number 140. As for the blood donation service, the Spears (Beirut) and Tripoli (North) centers will be on duty 24/7 on New Year's Eve to meet the demand for blood units of all types according to availability, in addition to receiving blood donors. The Lebanese Red Cross reminds citizens of the importance of adhering to public safety guidelines and wishes everyone a joyous, prosperous, and peaceful holiday."
**Guidelines and Advice During New Year's Eve Celebrations:**
"During the New Year's Eve celebrations, the risk of heart attacks increases, and traffic accidents become more common due to factors such as speeding and overconsumption of alcohol. Therefore, the Lebanese Red Cross offers the following preventive advice for awareness and public safety:
**Firstly: To avoid the risk of heart attacks:**
- Avoid strenuous physical exertion, fatigue, and psychological pressure.
- Drink water and take breaks during festivities.
- Do not overindulge in alcohol.
- Keep the body warm by wearing appropriate winter clothing.
If you experience any pain or discomfort in the chest, take the following steps:
- Sit down and rest.
- Call for an ambulance using the free emergency number 140.
- Until the paramedics arrive, it is advisable to consult your attending physician if available.
**Secondly: To avoid the risk of traffic accidents:**
- Those in charge of driving should not consume alcohol.
- Avoid excessive and reckless speeding.
- Do not drive when extremely tired or drowsy.
- Avoid using the mobile phone while driving.
- Always wear seat belts for all occupants in the vehicle.
- Ensure the car's mechanical condition and readiness.
- Respect traffic laws: signals, intersections, directions...
- Adhere to security forces' instructions at all times.
- Carry a fire extinguisher.
- Have a first-aid kit available.
**Thirdly: To avoid carbon monoxide poisoning:**
- Do not light wood or charcoal indoors and ensure proper ventilation in the room, while keeping heating systems clean and ensuring that all home heating systems meet public safety standards.
If you experience any of the following symptoms: mild headache, dizziness, fatigue and weakness, nausea, shortness of breath, or loss of consciousness, ventilate the area immediately, preferably moving to fresh air."
