Weak Signals for Resolution: The Responsibility of State Protection Requires a Halt to Dialogue Rejection

As the Israeli occupation continues to perpetrate the most heinous forms of human rights violations against the Palestinian people, operating under the guise of international conspiracy, the "acceptable" response provided by Hamas to intermediaries regarding the prisoner exchange proposal once again reveals the enemy's intentions, driven solely by aggressive instincts. However, Hamas's response placed the occupying government's leadership in a difficult position before public opinion within the entity, forcing Netanyahu to agree to send a delegation to negotiate as reported by "Al-Anbaa" electronic newspaper.

Reaching an agreement for a prisoner exchange simultaneously with a ceasefire in Gaza could hypothetically lead to a calm on the southern front in Lebanon, where the explosive situation remains unchanged, particularly after the assassination of Hezbollah leader Mohamed Naeem Nassr and the party's retaliation through a series of targeted actions against various Israeli settlements and sites in the Galilee and Golan Heights.

The enemy's Prime Minister informed U.S. President Joe Biden during a phone conversation of his agreement to return to negotiations and the names of the delegation that will participate in the ceasefire talks in Egypt. However, monitoring sources noted via "Al-Anbaa" that Netanyahu's positions do not inspire confidence, indicating he is trying to play for time in order to gain a new type of international sympathy that will help him push the region into an escalation of conflict if possible. This continues his political and military influence after his image as the leader of the entity has been shaken and his failure to achieve any victory in Gaza or southern Lebanon.

While the situation remains heated, Lebanon bears the weight of all these pressures, which is why the head of the Progressive Socialist Party, MP Taymour Joumblatt, is continuing his internal movement despite some individuals remaining trapped in narrow political calculations. He met yesterday at the head of a delegation from the party and the Democratic Gathering with Prime Minister Najib Mikati to inform him of the atmosphere of meetings and communications he has conducted with parliamentary blocs and efforts aimed at achieving some breakthrough in the presidential file that has been stalled for 20 months.

Follow-up sources confirmed to "Al-Anbaa" that the communications being carried out by MP Joumblatt and the Democratic Gathering with parliamentary blocs and political forces are ongoing, aimed at creating a chink in the wall of the presidential crisis, as the continuation of the vacuum could lead to the country's disintegration and the collapse of institutions amidst ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon. The sources highlighted the message of thanks and appreciation sent by French President Emmanuel Macron to President Walid Jumblatt for his efforts at all levels to extricate Lebanon from its crises.

In this context, Democratic Gathering member MP Bilal Abdullah noted in a statement to "Al-Anbaa" the importance of the meetings and communications conducted by MP Joumblatt, especially since there are no other options but dialogue at a time when the region is experiencing an atmosphere of genuine war, with no one knowing how or when it will end. Abdullah added, "It is crucial that we seize the moment and take some action, as the situation requires an internal settlement, despite the very weak signs of a near resolution," revealing that "the points discussed with the Prime Minister focused primarily on inviting the parliamentary council for dialogue and consultation. If an agreement is reached on consultation, President Nabih Berri will preside over the session, ensuring that everyone commits to keeping the quorum and that the political parties are prepared to maintain the institutions, especially the election of a President of the Republic."

In light of this reality, the concerned parties that reject dialogue will subsequently bear the responsibility for the complete collapse of the state if the situation remains unchanged, jeopardizing not only the presidency but also extending to various institutions.
