Professor Stanislav Ionov from the Department of Therapy at the Russian Education University has revealed the reasons for hair loss. He states, "The health of hair depends on the level of androgens. When the levels of these hormones increase, alopecia occurs in both men and women. This depends on the condition of the endocrine glands, particularly the thyroid gland. Severe menstrual cycles can also lead to anemia and hair loss. Another common cause of hair loss is the deficiency of vitamins and minerals that strengthen hair follicles, especially vitamins A and E, selenium, as well as vitamins C, D, B group vitamins, PP, iron, calcium, potassium, zinc, and chromium."
According to him, smoking affects the condition and growth of hair, as does the indiscriminate use of hormonal medications and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Stress also stimulates hair loss because the release of a large amount of adrenaline causes vasospasm, which reduces the nourishment of hair follicles. He advises, "To maintain hair health, one should monitor hormonal status and regularly consume the vitamins and minerals essential for hair health. Additionally, one should eat more orange, yellow, and green fruits and vegetables that contain carotenoids (vitamin A). The diet should include meat and liver as sources of iron, as well as buckwheat, wheat germ, and other grains that contain vitamin E and selenium. It is essential to keep the skin and scalp clean, but hair should not be washed with very hot water; it is better for the water temperature to be 35-37 degrees Celsius. It is preferable to use shampoos that contain castor or almond oil, or use castor oil itself to nourish the hair. A hairdryer should be kept at a distance when drying hair because hot air destroys hair follicles. It is also recommended to massage the scalp and hair follicles daily with a wide-toothed comb in one direction. It is not advisable to use dense combs as they can damage the hair."
