The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued the following statement: "Recently, incidents of drowning have increased, particularly among children and youth while swimming or being near riverbanks and natural pools. From January 1, 2020, to May 22, 2024, there were /221/ drowning incidents, resulting in the death of /255/ victims, including /127/ minors. Therefore, the General Directorate of Internal Security Forces urges citizens to ensure their safety and the safety of their children by following the following tips and guidelines while swimming:
- Adhere to general safety guidelines and pay attention to sea conditions without taking unnecessary risks.
- Avoid swimming in areas where it is not permitted or that are considered dangerous due to their location.
- Do not jump into the water from high places (doubtful areas).
- Do not allow children to swim or play in the water alone without supervision.
- Wear swimming-specific vests, especially life jackets for children who cannot swim, and do not swim in full clothing.
- Prevent children from running around swimming pools and jumping into the deep end.
- Avoid swimming immediately after eating and refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages.
- Exercise caution when approaching riverbanks and natural pools.
- Avoid swimming in agricultural rivers and pools."
