Sisi: Importance of Implementing the Two-State Solution According to International Legitimacy

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi emphasized the need for serious international engagement in implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy, considering it a path to achieving justice, peace, and security for all peoples in the region.

On Monday, President El Sisi received a delegation of members from the U.S. Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties, headed by Senator Jerry Moran, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, with the presence of the Chief of General Intelligence, Major General Abbas Kamel.

The official spokesperson for the presidency stated that the American delegation affirmed that their visit comes as part of the special importance their country places on the strategic partnership with Egypt, highlighting Egypt's significant contribution as a cornerstone of regional stability and their appreciation for Egypt's efforts in establishing peace and security in the region. They pointed out Egypt's essential role in advancing efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and in facilitating the exchange of detainees, hostages, and prisoners, in addition to the immense efforts Egypt has made and continues to undertake in delivering humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. They expressed great gratitude and appreciation for Egypt's role and leadership in this regard.

The meeting included an in-depth discussion on the overall regional conditions, during which President El Sisi stressed the need to intensify efforts to contain the situation and halt the war, in order to put an end to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy faced by the residents of Gaza and to prevent the expansion and extension of the conflict. He also underscored the dangers resulting from Israeli military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah and their humanitarian and security implications. Additionally, Sisi reiterated the necessity of serious international engagement in applying the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy, as a means to achieve justice, peace, and security for all peoples in the region.
