Radical Changes in Egyptian Sinai After Eradicating Terrorism

North Sinai, Egypt, is entering a new phase of construction, development, and improvement across various sectors. The government is enhancing and upgrading electricity and water networks, expanding desalination plants to supply the necessary water for residents, and increasing the agricultural area. Additionally, there is support for industry, education, and health sectors, along with significant improvements in security.

According to RT, life has returned to normal across North Sinai, with safety restored and development arteries reaching an area that has long suffered from neglect on multiple levels. What is happening in Sinai is a new success story for the Egyptian state and political leadership in combating terrorism and ushering in an era of development that is being experienced throughout the republic.

North Sinai Governor Major General Mohamed Abdel-Fadiel Shousha stated in remarks to RT that all security barriers and checkpoints have been removed from the streets of the province, reflecting the return of safety to the city of Arish. He praised the immense sacrifices and unlimited efforts of the armed forces and police, which have led to a continuous decline in terrorism.

Shousha explained that the province is working in parallel on security and development, noting that development is progressing ahead of security. Therefore, efforts have been focused on development and infrastructure. He indicated that development works in North Sinai are occurring on several fronts, primarily in agricultural development, where efforts are underway to address the water scarcity issues the province faces.

He pointed out that the Al-Qantara-Arish road is undergoing efficiency upgrades along its length to the city of Rafah, with improvements completed from Al-Qantara to the Gilbana area and other regions. The upgrades to the road will soon be completed, in addition to several main thoroughfares and streets in Arish.

The governor also noted the establishment of a wholesale market for traders and farmers that is now operating regularly, along with ongoing development efforts in the circular and intermediate axes. Markets in North Sinai are witnessing significant activity from citizens, especially as all types of goods have become widely available at very reasonable prices.

Several citizens in the markets expressed their gratitude to the Egyptian armed forces and police for their achievements in eradicating terrorism and restoring security and safety to Sinai, acknowledging the sacrifices made for peace and security in the region.

Mohamed Ahmed, who works in a shoe store, stated that the situation in Sinai has completely changed and that everyone feels safe, highlighting his ability to work freely. Mohamed Ibrahim, a fabric trader, emphasized his commitment to providing products at appropriate prices, pointing out a surge in purchases since the province regained security and eliminated terrorism. Khaled Tawfiq, who works in a sports clothing store, remarked on the very reasonable prices of sportswear and noted the significant increase in customer interest.

Manal Hassan stated that prices are good and suitable, noting that military outlets offer many products at lower prices than the markets.
