The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Al-Budaiwi, confirmed that the wars in the region are placing it at a dangerous crossroads, leading to a dark future with catastrophic consequences. The convening of a high-level forum on security and regional cooperation between the council member states and the European Union reflects the esteemed position of the member states and their vision and interest in enhancing relations with regional and global countries and organizations.
The Secretary-General emphasized, during the Regional Security and Cooperation Forum between the council and the European Union on Monday, the importance of standing by the Palestinian people in Gaza and its surroundings. He called on Israel to cease fire, stop its military operations, and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza without delay.
He also stated that the foreign ministers of the council member states and the foreign ministers of the Benelux countries discussed the recent escalations in the region and exchanged views on the situation. The Secretary-General urged the international community to take necessary actions against Israel in response to the collective punishments imposed on the Palestinians. He noted that the situation in the region has taken a serious turn for its peoples, and all parties must exercise restraint. This statement came during Al-Budaiwi's participation in the high-level forum on security and regional cooperation between the GCC and the European Union in the Duchy of Luxembourg.
