Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati held two meetings today, Friday, at the Grand Serail. The first meeting included Minister of Health Firas Al-Abyad, Minister of Industry George Bouchkian, and Messrs. Eli and Anis Al-Shami. The second meeting also included Minister Al-Abyad and a delegation from the "Lebanese Medical Association Worldwide," led by Dr. Walid Al-Ahmar.
After the meetings, Minister Al-Abyad stated: "The first meeting we held with President Mikati was with the 'Lebanese Medical Association Worldwide,' which includes several medical associations from around the world comprising doctors of Lebanese origin who are keen to maintain their relationship with their homeland and provide support to the health sector in various fields. During the meeting, we discussed how to support joint projects with the Lebanese health sector in order to strengthen its health system and benefit from their expertise. President Mikati praised their efforts and assistance to Lebanon."
He added: "The second meeting was dedicated to discussing how to cooperate and benefit from the expertise of Mr. Eli Al-Shami, who owns a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Australia, one of the largest companies in the world. On this occasion, President Mikati confirmed the government's support for any industrial investment project that could be undertaken in Lebanon to create job opportunities for Lebanese youth."
For his part, the President of the "Lebanese Medical Association Worldwide," Dr. Walid Al-Ahmar, stated: "The aim of our visit to Lebanon is to hold a conference involving several doctors from outside Lebanon, focusing on ways to provide assistance. We will also highlight all the support provided by the association to Lebanon in the health, hospital, and educational fields, and during this conference, we will assess the necessary needs to secure more assistance for the health sector."
**Other Meetings**
The Prime Minister also received former Minister Zina Akkar to discuss the general situation and met with General Director of Internal Security Forces, Major General Imad Othman, to discuss security conditions in the country.
