The Iranian ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, reaffirmed that his country does not wish to expand the conflict with Israel, indicating that Iran reserves the right to respond to the attack on its consulate in Damascus, and "the slap in the face will be delivered at the appropriate time."
During a conference at the multi-media international press center "Russia Segodnia," the Iranian ambassador pointed out that Tehran reserves the right to respond and will determine the form of that response. Jalali stated, "We reserve the right to respond, but, as Iranian leader Ali Khamenei indicated, the slap in the face will come at the right time. As the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces specifically stated, the initiative will be in the hands of the Iranian armed forces."
He added, "The time, date, and manner of our response will be determined by Iran. Of course, I say we have proven so far that we do not want to expand the area of conflict and war."
