The French Embassy in Lebanon, in collaboration with the "Sports Academy School" and under the supervision of the Lebanese Olympic Committee, is organizing the third edition of "Olympic Day" at the sports facilities of the Antonine University (Baabda - Hadath) next Saturday, May 18. This event will take place during a long sports day approximately two months before the opening of the Summer Olympics in Paris.
A total of 288 male and female athletes from 24 schools across Lebanon will participate in this significant event, which includes competitions in basketball, athletics, mini football, swimming, archery, and others, as well as wheelchair basketball competitions in coordination with the "Lebanese National Energy" association.
The opening ceremony will take place at 9:15 AM on Saturday, the 18th, at the Antonine University green field, attended by representatives from the French Embassy, sports figures, officials from the hosting university, organizers, school representatives, invited guests, and media personnel, along with several sports stars from Lebanon.
The opening ceremony will include a parade of the participating teams and speeches to mark the occasion, with competitions starting at 9:30 AM, and the award ceremony for winners scheduled for 4:15 PM.
In this context, Dr. George Asaf, the director of the "Sports Academy School," clarified that preparations are in full swing to ensure the success of the third consecutive "Olympic Day." He noted that promising school talents have emerged in the past two editions across many sports. He thanked everyone involved in making this long sports day a success, including the French Embassy, the Lebanese Olympic Committee, Antonine University, participating schools, the "Lebanese National Energy" association, working committees, and the media. The organizers have invited media professionals to attend and cover this sports event.
