Jordan Records First Case of West Nile Fever

The Jordanian Ministry of Health has announced the first case of West Nile fever, confirmed through the disease surveillance program in selected areas, with the case diagnosed in the central laboratories of the Ministry of Health. Raed Al-Shboul, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Health for Primary Healthcare and Epidemics, stated that the recorded case involves a 6-year-old girl. Al-Shboul confirmed that the girl's health condition is stable and she is recovering, noting that she is under medical supervision. The Secretary-General added that the selected areas for the disease surveillance program represent geographical diversity. He stated that the disease is not transmitted from person to person and is not a concern for public health. Al-Shboul explained that the Ministry of Health has a strong surveillance program capable of detecting and diagnosing cases in the laboratory.
