Jumblatt on the Attack Against Mikati: Inappropriate in Time and Place

Former head of the Progressive Socialist Party, Walid Jumblatt, made a call to caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, expressing his "solidarity with him in facing political attacks that are inappropriate in both time and place, while we are in dire need at the national level for solidarity and cooperation to confront significant challenges and prepare for the worst within available resources and in a reasonable manner." He hoped that "ongoing negotiations in Doha would translate into an effective and permanent cessation of hostilities." This statement came after the head of the Lebanese Forces Party, Samir Geagea, remarked that "the government is committing high treason regarding the events in the south."
