Members of the U.S. Congress applauded an Israeli soldier who attended a Washington event with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Who is this officer? During his speech before Congress, Netanyahu introduced several family members of hostages who accompanied him to Washington, as well as Israeli soldiers who fought in Gaza, including Officer Ashraf Bahiri.
As Netanyahu spoke, he emphasized the Muslim soldier in the occupation army, Ashraf Bahiri, and his role in "eliminating Hamas", which led to applause and standing ovation from the audience. Netanyahu described Ashraf by saying, "Ashraf is a Bedouin soldier from the Israeli Muslim community in Rahat. On October 7th, Ashraf also killed many terrorists. Initially, he defended his comrades at the military base, and then rushed to defend the neighboring towns, including the destroyed kibbutz Be'eri."
He added, "Like Ashraf, Muslim soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces fought alongside their Jewish, Druze, Christian, and other comrades with immense courage. These are the soldiers of Israel. They come from every race, religion, and political orientation."
