The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants issued the following statement today, Saturday: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants welcomes the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice on July 19, 2024, regarding the legal consequences arising from Israel's settlement policies and practices in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. This advisory opinion reaffirms the illegality of Israel's settlement policies and its occupation of Palestinian lands, supports the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, and emphasizes the necessity of establishing an independent, sovereign, and viable Palestinian state. The Ministry calls on the international community and concerned states to seize this legal basis to pressure Israel to end its aggressions, violations, and displacement policies, and to compel it to immediately halt all settlement activities, evacuate all settlers, and end the occupation of the Palestinian territories, paving the way for a serious political process towards a two-state solution, based on relevant international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative launched at the Beirut Summit in 2002."
