At the conclusion of the first night of the diamond jubilee celebration for Arab artist Mohammed Abdu, currently taking place as part of the Riyadh Entertainment Season, Turki Al Sheikh, Chairman of the General Authority for Entertainment in Saudi Arabia, presented a precious disc made of pure gold as a form of recognition for his extended artistic career. Turki humorously told Mohammed Abdu, “Don’t sell it to get married; it is an extremely valuable prize.” Mohammed Abdu replied, “Forgive me, I will sell it immediately and dedicate it to all the victims of Gaza and the Palestinian people.”
Many stars and celebrities from the Arab music scene celebrated the 60 years of the illustrious career of Mohammed Abdu, reminiscing about the most important milestones in his artistic path and the most beautiful songs he has contributed to the Gulf and Arab music library.
In the diamond jubilee celebration, Syrian singer Assala Nasri spoke at the beginning, saying: "We always see Mohammed Abdu as the main reference from which we derive the arts and fundamentals of traditional singing, as he is a great person just as he is a great artist. His words are like a scale that connects ethics, humanity, and the foundations of art... he is a special school in the artistic milieu."
Singer Angham remarked during the diamond jubilee celebration for Mohammed Abdu: “He is the most impressive artist; I saw him in my childhood, and he remains a school in theatrical performance, one of the most important figures to ever take to the Arab musical stage.”
Singer Ahlam stated: "Mohammed Abdu is the history of art in the Gulf and the Arab world... A artist like Mohammed Abdu cannot be repeated."
Singer Majid Al Mohandis expressed: “Mohammed Abdu was and still is the innovator of Arabic song, being the reason for the transformation of folk music from its simplicity to an academic song that is now taught.”
Turki Al Sheikh promoted the concert for the Arab artist Mohammed Abdu in celebration of his diamond jubilee career. He shared a video of Mohammed Abdu preparing for the concert on his Twitter account, commenting, “A night from history for history.”
Earlier, Turki Al Sheikh announced the organization of a grand celebration to honor the career of Arab artist Mohammed Abdu. He wrote in a tweet: “60 years of artistic giving... We will celebrate on December 29 and 30 the diamond jubilee of Arab artist Mohammed Abdu with two nights; the first with the orchestra featuring his most beautiful works... and the second night is dedicated to folk songs... Two nights for history.”
