During the swearing-in ceremony, the Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stated: "We continue along the paths of reform that we have approved and the principles of justice, transparency, and openness that we have adopted," affirming that the country has entered a new phase of diligent, responsible work, unlimited continuous giving, and defense of the freedoms, interests, and finances of Kuwaiti citizens. His Highness emphasized his monitoring of the new government in carrying out its duties and responsibilities, urging the need to determine priorities, unify efforts, and harness energies according to a specific work plan and timeline, with a focus on continuous field inspections of the conditions.
In his speech on this occasion, His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister of Kuwait, affirmed his commitment to fulfill the trust assigned to him responsibly and to exert utmost efforts to achieve the welfare of the country and the interests of its people.
The Emir of Kuwait issued a decree on Sunday forming the new ministry chaired by Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, which includes 13 ministers. According to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the decree specified the appointment of Fahad Youssef Saud Al-Sabah as the First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Interior; Shraidah Abdullah Saad Al-Mua’sherji as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs.
The decree also appointed Dr. Imad Muhammad Abdulaziz Al-Ateiqi as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil; Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Yahya as Minister of Foreign Affairs; and Abdulrahman Badah Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi as Minister of Information and Culture. Additionally, the decree appointed Dr. Ahmed Abdulwahab Ahmed Al-Awadhi as Minister of Health; Dr. Anwar Ali Abdullah Al-Mudhaf as Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs; and Dr. Adel Muhammad Abdullah Al-Adwani as Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The decree also designated Dr. Nourah Muhammad Khalid Al-Mash'an as Minister of Public Works and Minister of Municipality; Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Wasmi as Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs; Omar Saud Abdulaziz Al-Omar as Minister of Commerce and Industry and Minister of State for Communications; and Dr. Mahmoud Abdulaziz Mahmoud Boushahri as Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Housing Affairs. Lastly, the decree appointed Dr. Aml Hadi Haif Al-Huwaila as Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Family and Childhood Affairs, and Minister of State for Youth Affairs.
Kuwaiti Emiri Decree
An emiri decree was issued this Wednesday morning in Kuwait addressing the Prime Minister as "His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Prime Minister," according to KUNA. According to the text of the emiri decree, "After reviewing the constitution and the emiri decree to appoint the Prime Minister, we have ordered the following: Article One: The address of the Prime Minister shall be as follows: His Highness Sheikh/ Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah - Prime Minister. Article Two: The Prime Minister and Ministers shall implement this order from the date of its issuance, and it shall be published in the official gazette."
