Oman and the United States: The Necessity of a Ceasefire in Gaza

Omani Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad Al-Busaidi and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the urgent need to halt the conflict in the Gaza Strip and to continue supporting efforts to achieve peace that benefits all parties and the region. This came during a phone call where the ministers discussed developments related to the Israeli war in Gaza and the efforts to reach an agreement between Hamas and Israel for a permanent ceasefire. Such an agreement would allow for the sufficient entry of humanitarian aid, stop the bloodshed and human suffering, and facilitate the release of detainees from both sides. The Omani News Agency reported that the phone call addressed the necessity of politically and financially supporting the Palestinian National Authority so that it can fulfill its responsibilities. Regarding the situation in Yemen, the ministers stressed the importance of continuing to support peace efforts and the release of international detainees and other civilians as part of efforts to achieve de-escalation and prevent further complications in the region.
