Two Injured in Shooting in Silwan Neighborhood of Jerusalem

Less than a day after the Eastern Jerusalem attack that resulted in 7 deaths, gunfire in the Silwan neighborhood left two injured. The Israeli ambulance service and Israeli army radio reported that two individuals were injured in what is believed to be a shooting incident in the Old City of Jerusalem. Paramedics identified the injured as two men aged 23 and 47, whose conditions were reported as moderate to serious.

On Saturday, the Israeli police announced that they had arrested 42 people following the shooting that resulted in fatalities outside a synagogue in Eastern Jerusalem, including members of the Palestinian shooter's family. The police confirmed in a statement that "42 suspects were arrested for questioning, some of whom are family members of the assailant," in addition to residents from the neighborhood where the assailant lived in Eastern Jerusalem.

The Israeli army stated that an additional military battalion would be deployed in the West Bank starting Saturday, following the Eastern Jerusalem attack. The armed attack yesterday on a Jewish synagogue in the Neve Yaakov settlement in Eastern Jerusalem led to the deaths of at least 7 Israelis, according to official Israeli sources.

Details of the attack revealed that at least 7 Israelis were killed and others injured in the shooting at a Jewish synagogue in the Neve Yaakov settlement. The attacker targeted settlers as they were leaving the location. The Israeli police stated that the attacker arrived by car and then opened fire with a handgun. Media reports indicated that the assailant attempted to flee after carrying out the attack, but was shot and killed by Israeli security forces.
