Local authorities in Russia announced today, Monday, that "a fire broke out following an explosion in a fuel pipeline at a petrochemical plant in Bashkiria, resulting in three injuries." The Sterlitamak petrochemical plant, located 1,500 kilometers east of Moscow, produces rubber and high-octane fuel additives as well as aviation fuel. The Interfax news agency, citing local officials, reported that production at the plant continues despite the fire.
