Yemen Receives New Saudi Financial Support for Budget and Salaries

The President of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, confirmed the arrival of a new batch of Saudi grants to support the country’s budget to the Central Bank in the city of Aden. Sources indicated that the Kingdom deposited about $300 million. Al-Alimi stated on the social media platform “X”: "This new batch will significantly impact the state's ability to meet its urgent obligations, primarily the payment of employee salaries and addressing the increasing service and humanitarian needs."

Three sources within the internationally recognized Yemeni government reported today that Saudi Arabia has deposited nearly $300 million into the accounts of the Central Bank of Yemen as the fourth disbursement of the Saudi grant amounting to $1.2 billion over a one-year period, which began in August, to the bank based in Aden, southern Yemen.

This comes at a time when the value of the local currency in Yemen is experiencing a significant and rapid decline against the dollar and foreign currencies in the coastal city of Aden and southern and eastern provinces of Yemen. The price of the dollar has crossed 1800 riyals today for the first time in the country's history amid an unprecedented wave of inflation and rising prices of food products, warning of an impending economic disaster and potential hunger revolt, as previously warned by international and local organizations.
