Poverty at the Door: 5 Medications for 6 Million... and Salaries Will Disappear!

Recently, some have been informing us, "You will surely become impoverished." Regardless of the catastrophic outcomes of your poverty, there is an alarming concern as several Lebanese social classes, which had managed until recently to provide for their basic food, drink, medicine, and daily necessities, will no longer be able to afford them. With the explosion of prices, the black market dollar, and the collapse of the Lebanese pound, these classes will find themselves in a condition more critical than previously experienced.

It is not a "joke"; we are approaching extreme poverty. If the bill for five packs of medication for chronic diseases approaches six million Lebanese pounds, what money will be left for other medications, vitamins, essential food needs, the private generator bill, the gas cylinder, and gasoline—everything fundamental in such a case? We are edging toward severe poverty, hunger, illness, and death, and this is not a "joke." Daily, we hear that "You will face poverty even forcefully," which is also not a "joke".

It is not a coincidence that a well-informed source emphasized that "the country is 'out of control' with an economy that does not actually exist." Those manipulating the currency game continue their activities without any regulations, as they belong to a class that no one can reach. The source also confirmed in a statement to "Akhbar Al-Youm" that "it is not coincidental for the financial explosion and the collapse of the Lebanese pound to ignite simultaneously with the initiation of investigations into corruption cases related to money laundering, illegal enrichment, and the arrival of European judicial delegations to Lebanon to continue investigations in these matters, alongside a revival of the file concerning the Beirut port explosion. These two developments coincide and will significantly impact Lebanon’s political, economic, and security future."

There is severe psychological pressure exerted by different political parties against each other, stemming from financial investigations and those related to the Beirut port explosion, by undermining the pound and intensifying the financial collapse. This pressure coincides with Lebanese groups exploiting the situation to increase their profits, which exacerbates the financial madness paid for primarily by the already resource-limited social classes.

The source added: "There are those who deliberately create scenes of chaotic security due to the financial collapse. However, the fact remains that the current authority has no capacity to control this chaos, even if it desired to do so. It should be noted that there is no intention to address anything, as it seems."

The source pointed out that "the lives of some Lebanese are regulated based on their salaries. These individuals are heading toward an inability to secure their essential needs, as their salaries will vanish in a matter of days due to the increasing prices without any regulations or oversight."

In conclusion, "We live in a state where the authority is absent, under a failed economy and widespread poverty. Those who do not receive at least 300 or 400 dollars monthly from abroad and do not share in the profits of the authority's corruption and its networks, or who have lost all their previous savings, are Lebanese citizens moving toward further life deterioration."
