The Saudi newspaper "Okaz" reported today, Monday, that those affected by the power outage on Friday and Saturday in the Sharurah province in the south of the Kingdom received text messages from the Saudi Electricity Company yesterday apologizing and informing them of a financial compensation of up to two thousand riyals (533.25 USD) added to their account balances with the company.
All consumers in the province experienced a power outage on Friday, which extended into late hours the following day. The Saudi Electricity Regulatory Authority also apologized to consumers for the service disruption in a statement released yesterday, Sunday.
The authority stated in a statement published by the official Saudi Press Agency that its board of directors directed "immediate communication with all consumers in Sharurah to apologize and inform them of the amount of compensations, with designated phone lines to receive any inquiries or complaints related to the incident."
Additionally, the board of directors of the Saudi Electricity Company issued a statement apologizing to all consumers for the delay in restoring electrical service and decided to initiate an urgent investigation under the supervision of the Electricity Regulatory Authority to determine the causes of the outage and identify any negligence or shortcomings that led to the delay in restoring service.
The newspaper "Okaz" published a text message sent to one of the subscribers in which they were apologized to for the power outage and informed of the addition of two thousand riyals to their account.
