Turkish journalist Delara Aslan revealed in a report published by the "Daily Sabah" the expected time and place for a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Syrian counterpart Bashar Assad. In Aslan's report, which cited an unspecified source, it was stated that:
- The first meeting between Erdogan and Assad is expected to take place in the Russian capital, Moscow.
- The mentioned summit could be held in August.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to be the mediator at the summit between the two leaders.
- It is currently unknown whether Iran or other parties will be invited to participate in the anticipated summit in Moscow.
- Erdogan had previously stated that he is willing to meet with Syrian President Bashar Assad either in Turkey or in a third country.
- The Iraqi capital, Baghdad, has been recommended for a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Syrian President Bashar Assad.
It is noteworthy that Erdogan stated on July 11 that Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has been tasked with organizing a meeting with President Bashar Assad, which could take place in a third country. For his part, Assad indicated during a press interview after casting his vote in the Syrian legislative elections earlier that he is ready to meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, provided that the meeting serves the interests of the country.
