The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has thwarted three "terrorist" plots in approximately 24 hours, as reported by Russian media. The first incident was reported two days ago when a plan to hijack a "strategic bomber" was foiled. The second plot, announced today, targeted the aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov," and the third involved an assassination attempt on three Russian military leaders.
Specifically, official Russian media reported today that the FSB stated it disrupted an attack targeting the Russian aircraft carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov" in Murmansk and detained an agent from Ukrainian special operations forces. According to a statement from Russian security, in March 2024, a Ukrainian intelligence officer contacted a Russian citizen born in 2000, who works aboard the aircraft carrier, introducing himself as "Oleg."
The statement noted that using "psychological influence" tactics—ranging from promises of guaranteed travel abroad with forged documents to threats of criminal prosecution after fabricating charges against him for financing Ukrainian forces—the agent convinced this soldier to commit a terrorist attack on the warship.
On Wednesday, the FSB also announced the disruption of a "terrorist attack scheme from Kyiv's intelligence" aimed at assassinating three Russian military leaders from the Ministry of Defense in Moscow. The FSB stated that Ukrainian intelligence "attempted to carry out a terrorist act aiming to assassinate three senior officers" of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It was mentioned that in preparation for executing the terrorist plan, a Russian citizen born in 1994 was arrested. Under directives from Ukrainian intelligence, he prepared three mail parcels containing highly explosive materials to be delivered as gifts through a courier service to the residences of these Russian officers.
