Dubai Airports has advised travelers to allocate extra travel time and use the metro to reach the airport, due to expected weather fluctuations in the country. They called on travelers departing from Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport on Thursday to arrive at the airport well in advance of their flight times to avoid potential delays due to traffic congestion caused by the forecasted weather changes, as reported by WAM agency.
Dubai Airports also recommended allowing extra time for check-in procedures, security checks, and boarding. They noted that "using smart applications can help travelers obtain updates on traffic and alternative routes," and advised using the Dubai Metro to reach Terminals 1 and 3 at Dubai International Airport, whenever possible.
They emphasized the necessity for travelers to communicate with their airlines to confirm the status of their flights before heading to the airport. Additionally, Emirates Airlines urged travelers from Dubai International Airport to arrive early and allow more time "to avoid expected delays due to road conditions from the weather on Thursday, May 2."
The airline stated: "Severe thunderstorms are expected in Dubai on May 2, so if you are traveling to Dubai International Airport, you may face delays on the road. We recommend adding extra travel time to reach the airport and using the Dubai Metro whenever possible."
They also added: "To receive updates and notifications about flights, travelers should ensure they provide us with their latest contact details in their booking management."
