The Executive Assistant to the Iranian Presidency, Mohsen Mansouri, mourned President Ebrahim Raisi, while Iranian state media announced the death of Raisi and all helicopter passengers in an aviation incident in the East Azerbaijan province. Mansouri commented on the latest news regarding the helicopter crash by writing the verse "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we will return" in a post on the "X" platform, accompanied by the hashtag "Master of Martyrs."
The news agency "Mehr" stated that "our president and his accompanying delegation have attained the exalted status of martyrdom." Ayatollah Al-Hashem, the Friday prayer leader of Tabriz, Foreign Minister Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and Mr. Malik Rahmati, the Governor of East Azerbaijan, were also present aboard the helicopter and were martyred as well. Additionally, the helicopter's pilot and the president's personal guard were among the martyrs of this incident.
President Raisi's helicopter crashed in East Azerbaijan province. The head of the Iranian Red Crescent announced, "We have found the bodies of all those aboard President Raisi's helicopter, and they are being transported to the city of Tabriz." It is worth mentioning that Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was also aboard the presidential helicopter, along with the representative of the Iranian leader in East Azerbaijan province, Mohammad Ali Al-Hashem, the governor of East Azerbaijan, Malik Rahmati, and the helicopter crew.
Rescue teams have been engaged in intensive efforts to reach the crash site since yesterday afternoon, but weather conditions, including fog and rain, have impeded access for vehicles, prompting foot teams to search the area for debris.
