The distinguished Jaafari Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Qabalan issued a statement highlighting that "political outcry without national action does not extinguish the fire, and national interests pass through Beirut, not Brussels. Defending Lebanon starts from the sea, and Europe deceives Lebanon through gifts from the devil. We do not want to be among those who extinguish the candle with their fingers for Europe."
He added, "Regarding displacement, there are no political minorities or majorities; change must begin on the ground immediately and not seasonally. Half of what Europe says is lies and the other half is hypocrisy. Only the highest authority in Lebanon is concerned with national interests, and we must learn from history. The scene in Gaza and what is happening in Rafah is absolute proof of American and European hypocrisy regarding our national interests."
He continued, "Thank you to the resistance that has ensured Lebanon's sovereignty, and without it, the country would have been lost. Sovereignty and national interests are preserved by strength, not by promises or pleasantries."
Mufti Qabalan addressed the political forces: "The rose that many smell loses its freshness, and time and opportunity do not wait for anyone. Partnership in the parliament as a representative sovereign institution means a presidential settlement that reflects the identity of this consensual country. Unity is strength; anything else is a betrayal to Lebanon. Diplomatic raids are nothing more than a sound wall, and the solution is in your hands. Just as we need to pray, we also need to strike with the hammer; those who fear the rain do not catch fish."
