The statement added: "The President also highlighted the close ties between the two friendly peoples and the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries, which Trump appreciated, thanking President El-Sisi for the kind gesture." Trump faced an assassination attempt when a gunman shot at him during a campaign rally on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Republican Party has officially chosen Trump as its candidate for the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for November.
