The Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Deryan, received President Saad Hariri at the Dar Al-Fatwa. The media office of the Dar Al-Fatwa reported that the meeting focused on the conditions of the Sunni Muslims, revitalizing them, and enhancing national unity among the Lebanese.
Mufti Deryan emphasized that "Dar Al-Fatwa is committed to all its sons from the Muslims and all Lebanese to save their homeland from collapse, reduce chaos, and work together to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the Lebanese who are suffering from the exacerbation of crises one after another until a unifying president is elected and a capable government is formed that gains the confidence of the parliament representatives of the people."
Deryan stressed that "Lebanon can only rise through cooperation and solidarity among all its components and the assistance of brothers and friends." He remarked, "The efforts and initiatives undertaken by the quintet committee to break the deadlock at the presidential level are commendable despite all the difficulties it faces from the internally divided Lebanese situation."
He also viewed the "expansion of the Zionist aggression on Gaza and southern Lebanon as a heinous crime and an indication of the failure of the enemy's government to achieve its goals, leading to more unprecedented massacres and crimes in modern times."
