Member of the "Democratic Gathering" MP Wael Abo Faour stated that the presidency remains uncertain at this moment, and all formulas, names, and proposals do not seem to be following the right path to elect a president for the republic. He pointed out that the presidency can only come from within through open dialogue that avoids all forms of opportunism; otherwise, there will be no election of a president. If some still believe that external forces will replace internal efforts, they are mistaken. During a ceremonial dinner held in the Bekaa village of Al-Marj, Abo Faour said, "No one can take the place of the state, neither in healthcare, nor in public services, nor in education. Anyone who has attempted to replace the state has faced a failed experience, and the Lebanese citizen is the one paying the price for this prolonged presidential stalemate in Lebanon." He expressed regret that personal egos create political egoism, and this political egoism prevents agreement on a president. He likened the convening of the Cabinet to "eating quince," stating that whenever a session is held, a two-week or longer political debate ensues to take decisions affecting the life of the Lebanese citizen, whether in education or medicine, while discussions in the parliament are prohibited. He also highlighted the recent disruptions seen in the session of the joint parliamentary committees. He questioned, "Is the goal to paralyze the country and destroy all institutions? Is the aim to close all outlets from which the Lebanese citizen can breathe some air to endure these difficult circumstances? Therefore, we have no hope but to pray and make efforts for wisdom to prevail over the minds of politicians who, until now, show no flexibility in approaching the issue of the presidency to pave the way for overcoming this crisis."
