Videos that have circulated on Chinese social media have documented a strange phenomenon causing concern among car owners, where balloon-like bulges appeared on the bodies of cars covered with paint protection films. Chinese media attributed this phenomenon to the record-high temperatures the country has recently been experiencing, which led to the swelling and deformation of these films. The affected cars have been nicknamed "pregnant cars" by the Chinese due to the shape of the bulges.
A user shared a video featuring many of these cars on social media, writing, "No joke! Chinese-made cars 'get pregnant' when it’s too hot." The video has gone viral on social media with over 738,000 views to date. While some mocked "Chinese cars," others pointed out that they were actually German cars in China, while a third group discussed counterfeit protection films. Reports indicated that the current high temperatures in China have revealed the widespread use of fake paint protection films in the Chinese market, as cars covered with original protection films were not affected by this issue.
