Forum for Drug Prevention in Dubai

Under the patronage of the UAE Minister of Interior, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the activities of the Drug Prevention Forum (2024) began today, Tuesday, at Dubai Hills Mall. The event is organized by the Ministry of Interior in collaboration with the General Command of Dubai Police and will continue for 10 days, under the slogan "My Family.. My Greatest Wealth," as part of the ministry's participation in the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The forum aims to enhance community awareness of the dangers of drugs and psychoactive substances, prevention methods, and the pivotal role families play in protecting their children from these evils. It focuses on raising awareness of the harms and combating online promotion, as well as understanding the causes and indicators of drug and psychoactive substance use, the factors of protection and risk, and the role of parents in safeguarding their children.

Additionally, the event will familiarize attendees with the federal law on drug control, treatment and rehabilitation services in the UAE, social integration methods, and identify challenges and innovative ideas through sessions. It will promote a culture of rejecting drug use experiences through a plan utilizing digital technologies and display screens, including workshops, brainstorming sessions, and social media platforms.

The activities focus on several axes, including the foundations of the national "Siraj" program for combating drugs, daily happiness themes, "good companionship," and "healthy body." The Ministry of Interior and participating entities organize a wide range of activities and programs, some targeting children and youth, and others aimed at families.

The list of partners includes relevant departments from the Ministry of Interior, the general police leadership across the country, drug control council committees, the International Protection Center from the General Command of Dubai Police, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the Khalifa Empowerment Program "Aqdar."
