The Minister of Interior in the caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawi, announced that "the Naifa offices in Dikwaneh will resume operations soon." In a statement following a meeting at the governmental Serail on Monday, Mawlawi said, "Our meeting today aimed to inform Prime Minister Najib Mikati about the steps we are taking to restore work at the Traffic Management Authority. I announce that we have agreed with the Internal Security Forces and Major General Imad Othman that there will be 15 officers and 15 sergeants skilled in computer work so that we can operate the Naifa in Dikwaneh and even in other regions while simplifying transactions."
He noted that "the validity of driving licenses will also be extended until the end of this year to alleviate pressure on the Naifa and allow citizens to continue driving legally." He added, "As for the companies dealing with the Naifa, the acting head of the Traffic Management Authority and Beirut Governor Marwan Aboud will make the necessary contacts."
Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati had held a ministerial meeting for this purpose, which included Minister of Finance Youssef Khalil, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi, in addition to MPs Saji' Atiyeh and Ahmad Khair, the General Director of Finance George Maaraoui, and Beirut Governor Marwan Aboud.
