Israel Says It Killed Man Suspected of Planting Bomb in West Bank

The Israeli military revealed on Wednesday that security forces killed a man suspected of planting a bomb by the roadside, which caused an explosion injuring an Israeli near the West Bank earlier this week. The military added that the suspect seemed to have been planning to carry out further attacks.

An Israeli vehicle's driver was seriously injured in the explosion on Monday on a road near the West Bank, which has witnessed a surge in Palestinian militant attacks in recent months. Israeli officials refrained from commenting, but the military stated in a briefing to journalists that a suspect armed with multiple weapons, including an explosive vest, was apprehended at a checkpoint on Monday.

Security forces shot the man. An Israeli military official indicated that his driver was arrested and taken for questioning. The military stated, "The suspect was found to possess weapons including a ready-to-explode explosive belt," adding that its forces "foiled another attack."

The official noted that the military is investigating potential links between the man and the powerful "Hezbollah" and operates under the assumption that the suspect crossed into Israel from Lebanon. No evidence was provided for the man's alleged connection to Lebanon.
