2005 - General William Westmoreland, commander of U.S. military operations in the Vietnam War, died at the age of 91.

2009 - Palestinians in the city of Nablus in the West Bank attempted to make the largest tray of "Kunafa," a dessert made of sweetened goat cheese pastry.

2012 - Six people were killed in an explosion at Burgas Airport in Bulgaria.

2013 - U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry visited the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan.

2016 - Melania Trump delivered a speech at the Republican National Convention that faced widespread criticism for its similarities to Michelle Obama's 2008 speech.
