Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rahi, in his Sunday sermon, called for the election of an exceptional individual for the presidency, one who is characterized by morality, patriotism, courage, balance, and maturity, thereby elevating legitimacy and confronting any encroachment on it and on the entity and state. During the Mass consecrating Lebanon to the Heart of Mary from the Lady of Lebanon shrine in Harissa, Al-Rahi demanded the implementation of international resolutions, particularly 1559, 1680, and 1701, which guarantee Lebanon's independence, sovereignty, and the sole legitimate authority over all Lebanese territory. He continued, urging the Arab and international communities to expedite the provision of aid commensurate with the collapse in Lebanon, to be distributed under the supervision of a small committee from the donor countries until global confidence in Lebanese authorities is restored.
