MP Tony Franjieh stated that "implementing the Taif Agreement in general, and administrative decentralization in particular, is the essential gateway for balanced development and the proper distribution of the state's resources among the Lebanese regions." During a meeting with the youth of the Marada Movement participating in the summer camp organized by the "Youth and Students Office" in "Marada," Franjieh emphasized that "the Marada Movement has always adopted political realism, openness, and faith in a pluralistic Lebanon. The diversity in Lebanon does not hinder efforts to build it; creating a state enriched by its diversity requires balanced development among regions and all citizens, to protect Lebanon's unity."
He explained that "Lebanon's unity is strengthened when we prevent the prosperity of one Lebanese area at the expense of another, and when we strive for all citizens to be equal in rights and duties, paying taxes without exception and benefiting from services. Anything contrary to this logic undermines the idea of Lebanon's unity. Here, we can say that we are at a serious stage in dealing with the idea of administrative decentralization, meaning we are addressing the implementation of what was agreed upon in Taif."
Franjieh considered that "anyone who wishes to build a nation must seek the language of reason, not the language of instincts. This distinguishes us today, and we aim to transmit it to the youth whom we believe in their capabilities and competencies and the necessity of relying on the knowledge and experience of those who came before them, namely the previous generations that contributed a lot for Lebanon."
He said: "If we want to get our country out of the state of irresponsibility and non-state, we must at least engage in dialogue with each other, agreeing to build our state and giving full support to the judiciary and security agencies so they can play their actual role. Those who refuse to discuss all matters, especially the fundamental ones, must bear the responsibility for the chaos happening in Lebanon, which leads to a series of crimes like the recent one that cost the innocent child Naya Hanna her life."
