Investigation Initiated by Egyptian Prosecution in Ahmed Rifaat's Death Case

The Egyptian Public Prosecution announced the opening of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of player Ahmed Rifaat to determine whether any legal violations occurred prior to his death, according to a statement on the prosecution's official Facebook page on Thursday. The Public Prosecution's statement noted: "The Attorney General, Counselor Mohamed Shawky, has ordered extensive investigations regarding the case of the late player Ahmed Rifaat." The prosecution added in the statement: "This is to understand the circumstances of all the events he faced before his death, to determine whether any legal violations were committed by the concerned authorities or not." The prosecution concluded its statement by saying: "The Public Prosecution will announce the results of these investigations in due course." The incident of Rifaat's death, who passed away in July after a deterioration in his health following a heart crisis during a match in the Egyptian league in March, has sparked widespread controversy due to his potential experience of "injustice" and "deception" related to paperwork linked to his mandatory military service.
