There are many daily habits that we may practice without realizing their dangers to our health. One of the common dishes that many women prepare, store in the refrigerator, and then reheat the next day is rice. Marwa Al-Zain, a specialist in the field of toxins and a member of the American board, confirmed that the habit of reheating rice is very wrong and dangerous.
In a video she posted on her Instagram account, she mentioned that an old Japanese study from 1921 highlighted the dangers of reheating rice that has been prepared for 24 hours or more. This study led to a law preventing restaurants from doing this, under the threat of legal consequences. The reason, according to Japanese law, was the discovery of an outbreak known as "Cardiac beriberi," which affected heart health among those infected. Investigations revealed that the outbreak was caused by a type of mold that grows on rice after 24 hours, whether stored in the refrigerator or left out.
The specialist warned everyone again about this habit, emphasizing the necessity of avoiding it to maintain our health. It is noteworthy that consuming limited amounts of white rice does not cause harm; rather, it can provide many benefits to the body. However, consuming large quantities can reverse its benefits and lead to issues like elevated blood sugar levels and digestive disorders. Rice is one of the most popular dishes on the tables of many families in various Arab and Western countries.
