Arab Basketball Championship for Juniors Kicks Off in Cairo Tonight

Today, Monday, the 21st Arab Junior Basketball Championship will commence at the Cairo Stadium's multi-purpose hall, featuring the teams of Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, with Somalia withdrawing at the last moment. The event will run until next Saturday. In the opening match tonight, the defending champion Egyptian team will face the Jordanian team, followed by the first round matches tomorrow and the day after, where Lebanon will meet Jordan, and Egypt will face Lebanon. The second round matches will take place on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The team with the highest points will take first place and win the championship trophy. In case of a tie in points between two teams, rankings will be determined according to the FIBA ranking system. The tournament draw took place last night with the presence of Dr. Magdy Abu Freikha, Vice President of the Arab Basketball Federation and President of the Egyptian Federation, Abdulrahman Al-Mas'ad, Vice President of the Arab Federation, Hassan Youssef, a member of the Arab Federation's Board of Directors, Major Abdullah Shalabi, Secretary-General, Major Wael Lotfy, Director-General, and representatives of the participating teams. It is worth noting that the Egyptian team holds the record with 12 titles, compared to one title for Lebanon.
