The Venezuelan government announced today, Tuesday, that it will withdraw its diplomats from 7 countries in Latin America following their statements regarding the results of the presidential elections in Venezuela. The Venezuelan government condemned these statements in a statement, considering them "interference" from "a group of right-wing governments subject to Washington," which seeks "not to recognize the results of the elections held on July 28, 2024."
The Venezuelan government specified that it has decided to withdraw diplomats from Argentina, Chile, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay. Additionally, it stated that it will demand that these countries withdraw their diplomats from Venezuelan territory as well.
Earlier, Venezuelan authorities announced President Nicolas Maduro's victory in a new presidential term in Venezuela. The Venezuelan opposition rejected the election results, accusing the authorities of fraud. Opposition forces considered their candidate, Edmundo González, to be the winner of the elections.
