China Calls on Japan to Stop

Today, China considered that "the biggest threat to peace in Taiwan currently is the separatist activities calling for its independence," asserting that "the Taiwan issue is a purely internal matter, and the One China principle is a consensus of the international community." The Chinese Foreign Ministry urged Japan to correct its behavior of "exacerbating tensions in the region," calling on it to "stop provocation and not to create opposition camps."

Taiwan's President: Chinese Maneuvers "Irresponsible"

Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen revealed that "Chinese military maneuvers have caused instability in Taiwan and the region," describing them as "irresponsible actions by a major power," following Beijing's completion of military exercises around the island that lasted three days.

In a post on her Facebook account late Monday night, the Taiwanese president noted that her trips "abroad including her visit to the United States are nothing new and align with the expectations of the Taiwanese people," asserting that "China has exploited this to launch military maneuvers." She observed that "the armed forces and Coast Guard in Taiwan acted calmly and professionally."

The Taiwanese Defense Ministry stated that it observed 26 military aircraft and 9 Chinese ships around Taiwan today, Tuesday. China began the military exercises last Saturday, following the Taiwanese president's return to Taipei after her meeting in Los Angeles with U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. China had warned the United States against allowing her to visit or meet with McCarthy. During the maneuvers, China simulated precision strikes against Taiwan and a blockade, involving dozens of fighter jets and bombers.

Yesterday, the Taiwanese Defense Ministry indicated that "dozens of Chinese aircraft flew around the island."
