Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi, in his sermon during the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of Saint Charbel's feast at the Mar Maroun Monastery in Annaya, stated that "Saint Charbel tells us today that Lebanon, his homeland, has not disappeared if we return to its path of prayer, asceticism, and repentance. Many have abandoned the churches on Sundays contrary to God's third commandment, but we are witnessing a return, especially among the youth. He also tells us that he intercedes for Lebanon, his homeland, and that we too must pray for Lebanon and its deliverance from the war in the south and the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace." He added, "He also tells us that Lebanon cannot continue without a president, and everyone must move beyond their personal interests and rigid stances for the sake of the nation and its people. Finally, he says that our missionary works require repentance, virtue, and prayer." He concluded by saying, "Let us pray for Saint Charbel to change our old positions so that we may unite around the good of Lebanon, which is also the good of every citizen."
