He first emerged in 2006, issuing a statement announcing the resistance's operation "The Hollow Fantasy" east of Rafah, which resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to two others, as well as the capture of soldier Gilad Shalit, in response to the bombing of the "Abu Ghalia" family on June 9th on the beach of Beit Lahia.

Abu Ubaida's fame escalated since the recent war between Israel and Gaza, with his name trending in online search engines. He is known by the nickname "Abu Ubaida," and no verified information about his identity or real name has yet been confirmed. In 2013, he obtained a master's degree from the Faculty of Islamic Theology at the Islamic University of Gaza. Abu Ubaida does not have accounts on social media platforms but broadcasts statements through his channel on Telegram, where he is followed by hundreds of thousands worldwide.
