A security source revealed today, Sunday, the number of villages that have been evacuated in Duhok Governorate due to recent Turkish attacks. The source stated in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "since the beginning of the Turkish ground operations in the district of Amadiyah and its outskirts, 208 villages have been evacuated from their residents."
The source added that "the areas from which residents have mostly fled are Baleti, Kani Masi, and villages in Mount Metin." It was noted that "approximately 450 families have been displaced towards the central regions of Amadiyah, Kani Masi, and other areas due to the air and artillery bombardments conducted by Turkish forces, in addition to the provocative measures imposed on residents through the establishment of checkpoints and requests for official documents."
Ali Warhan, a member of the Kurdistan National Union, revealed on Sunday that more than 50 families had been displaced from various areas in Duhok Governorate. Warhan stated in an interview with "Baghdad Today" that "the Turkish army continues its deployment and establishes security barriers in the regions of Amadiyah, Batufa, Dairlok, and Kani Masi."
He added, "The Turkish army is tightening the pressure on residents and farmers in those areas, and Turkish artillery continues to shell various villages located in Mount Metin, in Amadiyah, and Kani Masi. Due to the shelling, more than 50 families have been displaced to the center of Kani Masi district."
Warhan pointed out that "the actions of the Turkish army violate all humanitarian standards and are a blatant breach of sovereignty over the past five days, without any intervention or stance from the regional government or the federal government. If the Turkish army's provocative actions and shelling continue, dozens of villages will be abandoned by the residents."
Warhan noted that "Turkey has moved dozens of tanks and established six military points in Zakho, and set up several checkpoints within the villages and outskirts of Amadiyah."
